The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Hello Everyone and welcome back!

After posting this picture on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, we received a few messages asking us about ACV and its benefits.  Therefore, we decided to write this quick post about the benefits on Natural Hair, Weight Loss & Health.

   I finally decided to give this "old" recipe a try, mainly because one of our biggest struggle is "thirsty hair", especially during the cold and dry days.

    It is important to remember that using Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) without adding plenty of water on your curly strands may damage them.      Therefore, make sure you mix the Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) with plenty of warm water.

    I added 2 tbs of Vinegar to 16 oz warm water.  Now that Ms. Bree's hair is short, it is a bit difficult to estimate how much solution or product is needed.  Needless to say, I didn't use the entire 16 oz.

   If you have anything left, don't worry, you can save the mixture to be used at a later time.

     As you can see, Ms. Bree was not very happy about the strong odor.  I must agree with her on that!  It was a bit strong and even her puppy found it a bit "interesting", so interesting that she wanted to lick Ms. Bree's hair.  But thankfully this only require from 10  to 15 minutes to work!

Here Are A Few "Benefits of ACV" For Natural Hair

1.  The acidity of the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse will help maintain the pH balance of your curly tresses and it can remove buildup at the same time without stripping the hair of its natural oils. You may use Apple Cider Vinegar in lieu of a clarifying shampoo but make sure you choose an extra moisturizing conditioner so that your curly strands get all the moisture they need.
3.  Apple Cider Vinegar will help treat clogged hair follicles due to bacterial infection that creates crusty flakes on the scalp.

4.  Apple Cider Vinegar can help stimulate better circulation to the hair follicles, which strengthens the hair roots and promotes a healthy hair growth.
5.  Apple Cider Vinegar has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that help treat itchy, dry scalp.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar rinse can also help in closing your hair cuticles, which will keep moisture in your hair and minimize any frizz.

It's important to remember that ACV is in acidity, and like with every product that contains high acidity levels, you must be cautious on how often you use it.  The over use of this ACV mixture can lead to the degradation of your hair shaft.

ACV HEALTH BENEFITS

Korrie, owner of "Korrie's Korner" shares how she uses Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV):

I posted this a month ago on my Facebook page!  How many of you stuck with this and are you experiencing the benefits from it?

Starting a day early for my challenge group. My first healthy habit change is going back to drinking 1 tbsp of acv and 8oz water every morning and evening. There are so many amazing health benefits to this. Here are a few:

1. It helps lower triglycerides which in return lower the bad cholesterol.

2. It helps your body maintain a healthy alkaline pH level. (This is my main reason for taking. I have a lack of energy and get a little of female infections sometimes due to a low pH level. This happens from having too much acid in your body which is my problem.)

3. Overall detoxification. It detoxifies the liver. Helps stimulate cardiovascular circulation.

4.This miracle vinegar helps to break up mucous throughout the body and cleanse the lymph nodes. Believe it or not, research suggests that apple cider vinegar can help with allergies because of its ability to reduce mucous and sinus congestion. When reducing the effects of allergies, it can also help stave off sinus infections and their related symptoms, such as sore throats and headaches.

5.This vinegar is rich in natural enzymes that can help rid your body of candida—yeasts that are attributed to thrush in humans. Candida also is blamed for creating symptoms of fatigue, poor memory, sugar cravings, and yeast infections. (I have issues with this as well.)

6. Reduces heartburn. It might seem like an oxymoron, but it really does help.

I've been drinking Dr. Oz's Swuimsuit Slimdown Drink for four days now.

Drinking it before each meal reduces my appetite which leads me to eat smaller portions, my cravings for sweets (especially chocolate) have decreased and it has also helped producing a regular bowel movements.

I can't say for sure if it has helped with any cholesterol issues as I don't have any.  However, I'm hoping my lovely husband will give this a try.  Of course that will require a lot of persuasion on my behalf!

As I said before, ACV contains high level of acidity and just the same way it can damage your hair if you use in excess or undiluted. ACV can damage your tooth enamel as well as your throat's tissue if is not diluted before you drink it.

We hope you give this a try!

Forsyth Farmers’ Market

31 October 2015 9:00 am
The Forsyth Farmers’ Market (FFM) was founded in 2009 by six women who came together with the intention of supporting their common vision of a local food system that is good for the health of all people and the environment. They merged with the existing Starland market and sought permission from the city to allow a farmers’ market in historic Forsyth Park. The first market was on May 9th, 2009. The FFM was conceived and planned to provide all members of Savannah’s community a welcoming, inclusive place to purchase local food and address food access issues. Despite some logistical challenges, Forsyth Park was chosen because it is a beautiful, public place in Savannah where everyone feels welcome. The founders made a special effort to seek out vendors from all backgrounds and conduct outreach to a wide variety of people. FFM, Inc. is currently in the process of applying for a 501c3 designation.
From the very beginning, the FFM has focused on food and food issues which is why it is a producer-only market (meaning all vendors have to be producing at least 75% of the products they sell) and allows only food and plant vendors. The founders also sought to address food access by opening the market with a token system that allow shoppers to use SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program, formerly known as food stamps). The FFM was one of the first independent, farmers’ markets in the nation to institute this system. By partnering with Wholesome Wave Georgia to double SNAP purchases and by conducting outreach to those community members who utilize SNAP the FFM has had the second highest SNAP sales at a farmers’ market in the state year after year.
Organizers envision a farmers’ market that is a strong hub of community activity that supports many aspects of a healthy local food system. To that end, there are many ways to participate in the market besides buying and selling. The market partners with health advocates, garden enthusiasts, community builders and a variety of other groups. There is a designated education and outreach space at each market. Please check out our “get involved” page to see who you can deepen your understanding of and participation in the transformation of our food system.
Mission
The mission of the Forsyth Farmers’ Market is to promote understanding and participation in a local food system that supports sustainable production and increases access to local products.
Vision
The FFM envisions a sustainable, local food system that promotes the health of individuals, farmers and the community.

DIY: Spooky Halloween Wreath

Hello everyone and welcome back!!

Yes, this is another tutorial on how to make your own festive wreath! If you thought our Festive Fall Wreath Tutorial  was cheap and easy.  Then you won't believe how much we spent on the materials we used to create this "Spooky Halloween Wreath".  Are you ready for me to blow your mind? Let's start...

We usually cover our front door with a Light Up Grim Reaper that also makes a scary noises every time you push the button.  Unfortunately, we've had the door cover for some time now and it was time to replace it.

Our daughter expressed her desire to do a Halloween wreath instead of a door cover and who was I to say "no" to such request!

She searched Pinterest for a while, and kept coming back to a few designs but she couldn't decide which one she wanted.  Therefore, we decided to combine all designs into one!

Below are her two favorite designs:

Spooky Halloween Wreath:

The Materials:

3 Spools of Bronze Ribbon
2 Bushes of Black Roses with Orange Glitter
1 Pack of 6 Glittered Spiders
2 Green Glittered Twirls
1 Medium Black Crow
1 16" Wreath Foam Form

The tools you will need:

Wire Cutters;
Scissors;
Glue Gun

Step 1:

Start by wrapping the bronze ribbon all around your wreath form;

Apply hot a few drops of hot glue to keep the end of ribbon in place;

I used approximately 2.5 spools of ribbon;

Step 2:

Cut the stems of the roses, make sure you leave approximately 1 to 1.5 inches of wire;
Once you've determine where you want to position the flowers;
Smear a bit of hot glue at the bottom of the roses;
Quickly puncture the ribbon using the wire and push all the way thru;
Repeat the above steps until your have utilized all the roses.

STEP 3:

Hot glue the little creepy spiders onto the wreath;

Step 4:

This is going to be a bit difficult, you will need an extra pair of hands to help you hold the
wreath while you glue the crow onto it;
Remove the crows feet, they will only get in your way, plus the bird will be more
secure if you glue it directly onto the wreath.

Step 5:

Carefully separate each twirl from the main stem;
Find the perfect spot before you glue them onto the wreath;

THE FINAL RESULT!

And here it is! Our Spooky Wreath all finished ...

Let's go over our expenses shall we?

3 Spools of Bronze Ribbon ......................................................$4.47
2 Bushes of Black Roses with Orange Glitter ......................$2.49

His 9th Birthday Celebration & A Special Letter!

Hello Everyone!!

We would like to thank everyone from our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter channels for taking the time to wish Happy Birthday to our son!

Our son was born on September 29th at approximately 10:00 in the morning.  After twelve hours of labor, he came into this world weighting 5.5 lbs and measuring 19 inches long.

He was small and long but it took very little time for this baby boy to put up some serious weight and his length was above the charts.

He was three months old when we celebrated our first Christmas together.
Our baby was so chunky, long but most of all, he was adored by all!

He has always been a happy and active baby.

At five months old, he was part of Savannah's Cutest Baby contest!
His smile and laugh has and continues to be infectious!

Experiencing one of Daddy's favorite hobbies at just 8 months old!
He loved been on the boat but he loved his little inflatable boat even more!

Learning how to crawl at nine months old, he has kept grandmother on her toes
since that day!

Dear Son:

     You are now nine years old... and we are so happy and proud of you!  Being a parent is not easy, at times it can be scary.  You see, children don't come with an "instruction" book that will tell us how to deal with every situation.  Therefore, we have to try our very best to guide our children in the right direction.

    We want you to know that we love you very much and we are so proud of everything you have accomplished in just nine years.   You may think we are mean because we won't allow you to quit when a situation gets difficult.  But by not allowing you to easily quit, your father and I are trying to prepare you for the future by teaching you that you most continue to try.  We want you to be able to reach your goals even when the obstacles seem too high.

    Remember that a lot of people loves you, Grandmother, Papa, your Aunts, Uncles, cousins, all your friends and classmates.  But most importantly, GOD loves you, no matter what, when or where, he will always be there for you.  You only need to reach for him.

   I know you most get tired of us telling you that "you need to be more responsible" and to "pay more attention".   You see son, nothing in this life is easy or free and yes, we do know school isn't always fun, but it is very important that you learn these things, so that you can take advantage of your education, so that one day you may have good career options.

    You are smart, talented in so many ways.  Don't ever forget to stay true to yourself and always be thankful for everything you have been blessed with.  Daddy and I have tried to teach you and will continue to teach you the difference between right and wrong.  Always try to be nice and kind to others because those simple actions will define who you are, it is never worth been mean to others.  You need to surround yourself with people who are just like you.  If you are good to your friends and others then they will be good to you.  A true friend is someone who compromises, listens and understands.  If you see a friend who is making the wrong choices, speak up and tell them, if they fail to listen then do not follow them, ONLY follow your own path.

   Don't ever try to be someone you are not, be proud of who you are. Hey, we are, so why not you!!   (just to prove a point, watch yourself in this video Daddy made for you)

   You are unique because GOD created you that way, and to us you are ONE PERFECT DUDE!

     Love, Mommy and Daddy!
