"Savage" By Sinful Colors Profesional

Hey there my beautiful people!!

Yes, this is another post on our series of "Our Favorite Spring Color Nail Polishes" .   If you missed that post, just click on our "Featured Post" link!
 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I'm determined to step out of my comfort zone and try new things by adding more bright color items to my wardrobe and also to my nail polish collection.

If you have not figure it out yet, you probably will soon.... I am a nail polish fanatic and Sinful Colors Professional are by far my favorite line of nail polish.  They are affordable, durable and the long brush makes the application of the polish onto my nails a lot easier.   I purchase most of my nail polishes at my local pharmacy for $1.99.   Sometimes they are on sale for as low as $0.99 (sometimes even less if you use your Walgreens card or RiteAid Discount card) With those low prices, Hubby allows me to indulge in my little habit.

"Savage" #950

After I removed my last nail polish, I filed and buffed my nails then I washed my hands thoroughly.

I always apply a Base Coat before applying my color polish.  The base coat I use is also by Sinful Color Professionals.

As you can see, this polish gives a "matte" or "opaque" finish.  If you are a lover of a matte finish then no need to apply any more coats! Believe it or not, I acquired this color with only ONE coat.  The more it dries, the more opaque it becomes.

I decided to apply a second coat because some of my nails didn't have an even finish.  The color didn't change by much after applying a second coat.  It dried pretty quickly and it was very easy to tell once it was completely dried.

I like my nails to have that glossy finish.  Therefore I used Top Coat by Sinful Colors Professionals.

I am truly amazed by the quality of these products.  Even if you have to purchase a base coat, color polish and the top coat polish.  You can do it all, for less than $7.00 and  your nails can look beautiful all the time.

Give them a try, you won't regret it... Share your thoughts with us on the comments below! We would love to hear your opinion.

Easy Spring Crafts for Kids- Project 3: Easter Egg Wreath

I just love spring and the many activities we can do during this time with our kids.  As I mentioned on our first post, I love spending quality time with our children which is very important to me.

Ms. Bree knows how much I enjoy making new wreaths for our home.  Therefore, she wanted to make one for her room.  Instead of buying all the materials I would normally buy to make a wreath for our front door, I decided to buy this pack of 30 Foam shapes.

All Easter theme items are on sale at 50% off their regular price at our local crafting store and the final price for the foam shape pack for $4.79.  They already have the "egg" shape we need and the pastel colors are perfect for this project.

PROJECT 3
EASTER EGGS WREATH

Unlike the last two projects, your little ones are going to required a little bit more of your help, specially with the assembling of the wreath.

What you will need to have:

13 Oval Shape Foams (or Easter theme scrapbook paper);
Glue;
Markers; and
Piece of Ribbon

First thing to do is to ask your child how big they want their wreath to be.  I used thirteen (13) shapes to create ours.

The next step is to decorate the oval shapes.   You can use markers and draw lines, circles, flowers, whatever design your little one wants to have or you can print Easter Eggs Coloring pages, color, cut and paste them onto your shapes.

Once the shapes are decorated to the satisfaction of your little artist, it is time to assemble the wreath.

You will need two pieces of ribbon of you choosing.   Make a bow using your first piece of ribbon and glue it to the front.

Add the second piece of ribbon to the back of your wreath to hang it and now you're all done!!

There it is ladies and gentlemen.... for less than $5.00 your little one can create his or her own Easter Theme Wreath!!

Happy Crafting and stay tuned for our next Easy Spring Crafts for Kids!!

Easy Spring Crafts For Kids- Project 1

Welcome back everyone!

To continue with our Spring and Easter theme this month, we have quiet a few easy crafts that you can do with your little ones while at home.

Instead of writing a very long post, we've decided to break our Easy Spring Crafts for Kids into a series of small posts.

Project #1
Colorful Picket Fence & Flowers

These beautiful picket fences are easy to make by using things our children love to play with:

a.  "Popsicle" sticks
b.  Glue
c.  Kids' paint and
d.  Foam stickers.

Possibilities are, you already have some these materials are home, like the paint, popsicles sticks and glue.  The foam stickers can be found at any store for less than $2.00!

This project guarantees to give you some quality time with you little ones and it WILL NOT break the bank... this is what I call a "win-win".

The only messy part of this project is the painting of the popsicle sticks.

Once the sticks are completely dry, it is time to glue them together.  Remember, the fence can be as long as the kids want them to be.   I always tell my kids, "Sky is the limit here"!

Once the sticks are glued in place, it is time to decorate!  You can easily display these pieces of art by sticking them onto your refrigerator or add a piece of ribbon onto to the back so that kids may hang them.

Happy Crafting and don't forget to share with us your master pieces!!!

Modifying Your Spring Wreath to an Easter Wreath

Hello everyone!

A few a days ago I shared a quick DIY post on how to easily create a Spring Wreath.  If you missed our post, you can see it here:

Today I will be sharing with you how I easily converted my spring wreath into an "Easter Wreath" instead of buying all the materials needed in order to create an Easter Theme Wreath.  After all, we are all in the business of saving money when we can.

I purchased my wooden bunny and the decorative eggs a couple of weeks ago from Michael's at a very low price.  The bunny was only $1.79 and my little branches with glittery eggs were 0.89 cents each!  I don't think it can get any better than that, right?

By carefully removing our initial "C" from the center of the wreath, I then placed our glittery and beautiful bunny.  I added our sparkling eggs all around the wreath to re-create the feeling of "bunny hiding the Easter eggs".

My children happily volunteered to help me find the perfect spot for all of our tiny eggs.

And here it is, the final result! For less than $4.00 we were able to give our Spring Wreath a quick make over and it's now our beautiful Easter Wreath!

Stay tuned for our next spring post!

DIY: Spooky Halloween Wreath

Hello everyone and welcome back!!

Yes, this is another tutorial on how to make your own festive wreath! If you thought our Festive Fall Wreath Tutorial  was cheap and easy.  Then you won't believe how much we spent on the materials we used to create this "Spooky Halloween Wreath".  Are you ready for me to blow your mind? Let's start...

We usually cover our front door with a Light Up Grim Reaper that also makes a scary noises every time you push the button.  Unfortunately, we've had the door cover for some time now and it was time to replace it.

Our daughter expressed her desire to do a Halloween wreath instead of a door cover and who was I to say "no" to such request!

She searched Pinterest for a while, and kept coming back to a few designs but she couldn't decide which one she wanted.  Therefore, we decided to combine all designs into one!

Below are her two favorite designs:

Spooky Halloween Wreath:

The Materials:

3 Spools of Bronze Ribbon
2 Bushes of Black Roses with Orange Glitter
1 Pack of 6 Glittered Spiders
2 Green Glittered Twirls
1 Medium Black Crow
1 16" Wreath Foam Form

The tools you will need:

Wire Cutters;
Scissors;
Glue Gun

Step 1:

Start by wrapping the bronze ribbon all around your wreath form;

Apply hot a few drops of hot glue to keep the end of ribbon in place;

I used approximately 2.5 spools of ribbon;

Step 2:

Cut the stems of the roses, make sure you leave approximately 1 to 1.5 inches of wire;
Once you've determine where you want to position the flowers;
Smear a bit of hot glue at the bottom of the roses;
Quickly puncture the ribbon using the wire and push all the way thru;
Repeat the above steps until your have utilized all the roses.

STEP 3:

Hot glue the little creepy spiders onto the wreath;

Step 4:

This is going to be a bit difficult, you will need an extra pair of hands to help you hold the
wreath while you glue the crow onto it;
Remove the crows feet, they will only get in your way, plus the bird will be more
secure if you glue it directly onto the wreath.

Step 5:

Carefully separate each twirl from the main stem;
Find the perfect spot before you glue them onto the wreath;

THE FINAL RESULT!

And here it is! Our Spooky Wreath all finished ...

Let's go over our expenses shall we?

3 Spools of Bronze Ribbon ......................................................$4.47
2 Bushes of Black Roses with Orange Glitter ......................$2.49
1 Pack of 6 Glittered Spiders .................................................$1.49
2 Green Glittered Twirls ........................................................$2.98

Make Wash Days Easier by Using this item!

Hello Everyone!

A few days ago while browsing the Pinterest Site, I came across this great idea and you will probably wonder the same thing I did... "Why didn't I think of this?!"

As parents of curly kids, we are always looking for tips and products that can make "wash days" easier and less painful for the little ones.

Let me assure you that this IS one of the greatest things I've tried that actually works.  The investment value... are you ready?. 0.75 cents!

Pool Noodle!

As you may already know, the pool noodles come in different shape and size.
The wider the noodle the higher the price.

I purchased two different sizes:

Purple ($0.75 cents) and Pink ($1.49)

(Image found on Pinterest Board)

Now, your probably thinking.... "What? and I never thought of doing this because?"

Trust me, that was the same reaction I had, especially after I purchased the Hair Wash Tray from Amazon.com (see picture below).

While we made it work the first time and she was happy with the experience, it was difficult to use it again.  It became impossible to find the right angle again.

The tray is not meant for small bathroom sinks and to be used at a kitchen sink, you have to have the right chair that will give the right height for the tray to sit at a comfortable angle.

We decided to try both noodles in order to determine which was one felt more comfortable to her. And she was more comfortable with the purple one, "so much better mama".

Fortunately, the noddle is the exact same length as her tub and it was "locked" in place and didn't require something to keep it from sliding back and forth.

Therefore, we experience NO MESS AT ALL!

I suggest you give this a try!

DIY: Tomato Cage Christmas Trees

Hello Readers…

We hope that your Thanksgiving was as memorable and enjoyable as ours was.  Time spent around family while enjoying some deliciously prepared food is always good.  But, with Thanksgiving gone, it’s time to prepare for Christmas.  If you thought Halloween was a big production in the Cunningham household, wait until you see what Christmas is like in our home!

This year is our son’s turn to pick the colors of the decorations of the Christmas tree and he did so, almost a month ago: Green, Red & Gold.  I love the idea of letting the kids pick the colors of the decorations, it allows them to be as involved in the process and it builds their confidence in the “decision making” process as well.

If you follow our Facebook Fan Page, than you already know that I started my DIY Christmas decorations as far back as Halloween.  My good friend, Kara, is obsessed with Pinterest, and thanks to her, I have now joined that club! I know, the HORROR right!!! J

Kara found several projects but I fell in love with the idea of making my own Christmas Tree to decorate my entryway.  I have always wanted one (or two) but every time I saw the tag price of $79+, my wants became “no wants”… J  I’m sure you can relate to the whole “for how much??
Nope, it can stay right where it is!”

This can be used for indoors or outdoors and you will not believe how inexpensive and how easy are to make.

Materials needed:

Wire Round Tomato Cage…………...…… $2.58 Lowe’s;
Zip Tie…………………………………………….. FREE- courtesy of Husband’s tool box;
Gold Star……………………………………….... $1.00- Dollar Tree Store
17 Garland…………………………………...…. $17.00- Dollar Tree Store
White Lights………………………………....… FREE- I used some of the lights I already owned
    TOTAL SPENT:                               $20.58

My entry way is not as large and open, so I only made one.  I simply decorated my tree using gold/ivory ribbon that I purchased at the Dollar General Store are well, increasing my total spent to $23.58.  Not bad at all if you compare it to the high prices you see at the store.

I used the 42” Galvanized Steel Wire Round Tomato Cage:

This cage is not the tallest Lowe’s carries, there are several sizes you can choose from (33” to 54”).  If you cannot find the sizes you need to decorate your porch, you may want to consider placing the tomato cage on top of some nice heavy pots/planters.  Pots not heavy enough? No biggie, simply add dirt, sand or even rocks to make the pots/planters heavier.  You can make your pots/planters unique by adding a nice decorative ribbon around it.   Your options are limitless.

HELPFUL NOTE:  If you are using pots/planters follow these steps first:

1.       Make sure you add the dirt/sand/rocks first
2.      Place the tomato cage on top;
3.      If the tomato cage is too wide for your pot, you can cut the bottom wire and squeeze the cage into your pot.

STEP 1

Bringing the ends together and secure them by using the Zip Tie. Make sure it is as tight as possible.

STEP 2:

Carefully unfold the garland;

Note: Amount of garland needed depends on the size of your tomato cage.  I compared the garland from the different Family Dollar, Dollar General and Dollar Tree Stores.  To my surprise, the best garland I found was at the Dollar Tree Store!  It’s was undeniably firmer than the rest, which will give you the necessary steadiness and fullness you are looking for.

Start wrapping the garland around the cage;

HELPFUL NOTE:  It is easier to start from BOTTOM TO TOP, although I started from the TOP, let me explain why this was a problem for me:

1.       Every time I wrapped the top kept coming lose;
2.      I tried placing the star on the top hoping it would keep the garland in place but it simply refused to stay in place.
3.      I tried wrapping the garland around a bit tighter, but it kept coming lose at the top.  So I had to start over many, many times…

      Therefore, I highly suggest you start at the bottom, trust me, I’m saving you time but most importantly YOUR SANITY! J

Continue to wrap, wrap and continue to wrap the garland until the entire cage is fully covered.

STEP 3:

Carefully add the lights;
I used two sets of white lights, each set contained approximately 30 lights.

AND HERE IT IS!

Pretty neat!!
Overall this was a very easy project and can't forget the amount of money I saved!!

Thanks for ready and stay tuned for the next project!!!
