YES.. ALL NATURAL CURLZ!!

WOW can you believe a little girl can have this much hair!?

I meant to post this yesterday but since it was my birthday, the day got crazy pretty quickly.    Ms. Bree is finally rocking her natural curls!!.

I'm so happy I was able to accomplished this!!  It was very simple and it didn't take two hours of styling.  I accomplished this look by using:

1st: Kinky Curly Knot Today to detangle the hair and
2nd: Kinky Curly Custard to style it.  I made sure the product was evenly distributed it by using my fingers.

I wish I could have let her entire hair loose, but she didn't feel like having lose hair around her face so as you can on the pictures below, I divided a small section from ear to ear and did a lose braid.

This is the first time I let Ms. Bree go to school with her hair loose so I was a little bit scared of how she was going to look like at the end of the day.

But I'm happy to say that after an entire day at school plus playground, her hair looked beautiful! So we decided to try for Day #2.!

Before Ms. Bree wen to bed, I carefully grabbed medium size sections and loosely braided the hair (at the end we had about six medium size braids).  Then the satin sleeping cap went on.

DAY 2:

This morning, I carefully removed the braids, lightly sprayed the hair with some water and applied more Kinky Curly Curling Custard to the sections that started to look a little bit frizzy.

AND THIS IS WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE TODAY!!

Let's see how she will look this evening! So far her hair is not greasy, crunchy or tangled.

A Quick Hair Style

I just wanted to share these pictures and give you an idea of a quick simple style.

This morning it was my turn to take my oldest son too school and had to be at work at a reasonable time.  Which meant that I couldn't spend a lot of time doing Ms. Bree's hair.

Trust me when I say, Ms. Bree's hair is not always done in a very detailed or complicated style and I have learned to be okay with it!

A very simple style can look adorable if you just add a few accessories to it.

Ms. Bree has three pony tails, each pony tails has 5 twist (2 strand twists).

I then braided all 5 twists into 1 big braid (did this to all three pony tails);
Then I braided all 3 braids into a BIGGER Braid..

Added white ribbons to the front pony tails and a bigger bow to the ends.

AND ALL DONE! Ms. Bree was ready to school in less than 30 minutes...

Remember, Simple is also beautiful!!!

Bands out & Big Hair In!

This is going to be a very short post.  I decided to do something simple and not do a style that required for her hair to be in braids or twists for several days.  My husband likes to call this "the girl with the four puffs".

BANDING THE HAIR:

  • After washing Ms. Bree's hair with Curly Q's Curlie Cutie Cleansing Creme;
  • I detangled her hair with Herbal Essence None of Your Frizzness then I lightly rinsed it out (to see a more detailed description of our detangling process, please visit our "Washing/Detangling Routine" tab;
  • I applied Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer all over her hair;
  • I made sure that the hair was free of any knots and tangles.
  • Once the hair was detangled, I divided her hair into eight sections, then banded each section by using cloth covered bands.
  • I let Ms. Bree go to bed with her hair banded.

BANDING IS A FUN STYLE TOO!

As all of you can see, Ms. Bree loves to play with her hair and banding allows her to do just that.

She went to school with her hair banded and the hair still looked nice at the end of her school day.
(If I do her hair during the week, I always make sure I coordinate the color of her bands with the outfit she is to wear the following day.) I know, don't judge me, I'm weird!

THE RESULTS!

I finally took the bands out on Saturday before we went out, and put her hair in 4 big pony tails.  I applied a little bit more of Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer to each section and added a white flower on each end (optional).

All ready to have fun!

Update: Braids are Out and Big Hair is IN!

OKAY, OKAY, the hair may not be that big!

 I just wanted to share these pictures so everyone can see how her natural hair truly is.  I really did not mean to do this style at all.

Ms. Bree had Box Braids for almost 14 days.  I kept her hair moisturized with Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer (done every other day) while she had the box braids and made sure she slept with her satin cap on every night.

I toke the braids out last night and I had every intention to deep condition her hair but then I changed y mind when I saw the results.

Her hair looked so nice once I was finished that I reconsidered the idea of deep conditioning her hair.  After all I could always deep condition her hair another day! PLUS she loves having her hair free!

As all of you can see, Ms. Bree is too busy with the play-doh to look at the camera!

What is Banding?

BANDING:

Is the stretching of the natural curly hair by using several bands (i.e. small scrunchies, ouchless bands or cloth covered bands) at approximately 1/2 " to 1" apart.

Banding is generally done in lieu of blow drying or flat ironing the hair.

Some people find it easier to style straight or stretched hair, to me its a personal option, you don't have to do it.  I chose to band Ms. Bree's hair for the following reasons:

a.  When it's close to her bedtime and the style I have chosen is too detailed and requires at least two of hrs of styling.  Banding allows me to do the style the next day by keeping her hair free of knots and tangles.

b.  Banding can also prevent breakage and it can be used as another protective style that she can wear to school.

As you can see on the pictures below, Ms. Bree's hair is parted in four sections then banded ( i chose pink and blue because of the outfit she chose to wear to school the next day).  The more section you do the more stretched the hair will be, I just chose to do four sections this time.

Banding is very simple, quick and everyone can do it. (Even the daddies!)
