Two Special Gifts for Two Special Women...our fun filled weekend!

Wow... I'm exhausted but my heart is full of joy and our children truly had a wonderful weekend.

This weekend was a busy one with sleep overs, pool time and the celebration of Mother's Day.

Let me start this weekend recap post with the amazing crafts the girls created for two special women in  their lives.

MICKEY MOUSE FRAME

As she mentioned in the short video, Ms. Jones loves Mickey Mouse and it made sense for Ms. Bree to create something with Mickey Mouse on it.  All Ms. Bree has been asking is for me to take her to Michael's so she could purchase the materials she needed to create a "Mickey Mouse" picture for her teacher.

It took us a minute to come into a "mutual" agreement..... It is quiet funny to say those words when you are talking about your child and her desire to create something special for someone else.  Let me further explain what I mean, my daughter wanted me to draw the outline of Mickey so that she could "paint" it.  While I appreciate her faith in my skills, I AM NOT A ARTIST... it took me some time to make her understand that mommy couldn't do what she was asking therefore we needed to come up with a Plan B.

Plan B came to her when she remembered something she had seen at the Disney Store the last time we were there... "Mickey Mouse Picture Frame" and this is what she came up with:

The Materials
ArtMinds Parenthesis-Shaped Wood Frame, 8" x 10"

Wooden Picture Frame 5x7..............$4.99
Black Paint......................................$0.69
Red Paint.........................................$0.69
White Buttons...................................$0.99

The Steps:

First:
I drew a line on both sides of the frame, (across the middle);

Second Step:
Paint the half top of your frame with the black paint;

Third Step:
Paint bottom half of the frame with the red paint;

Fourth Step:
Allow for the paint to dry completely;

While the paint was drying, Ms. Bree colored a Mickey Mouse picture from her coloring book.

Fifth Step:
Once the paint is completely dry, it is now time to glue your accessories;
We used a tiny Mickey Mouse from a set Ms. Bree had purchased while at the Disney Store.

Glue the two Medium Size White Buttons at the bottom of the frame and your Mickey Mouse Picture Frame is now complete!!

A VERY SPECIAL FRAME
FOR A VERY SPECIAL MOM

This past Friday Ms. Payton and her brother Liam stayed with us for a sleep over.   I just love having these kids over.  Ms. Payton is such a sweetheart, she never misbehaves, never speaks a negative word and she is always willing to help.

When I asked her if her class had done something special for mommy (who by the way, is also a teacher at their school), she sadly replied "no".

So you know I had to correct that!!

Sarah  is a hard working mom!

She is an Autism Teacher at our kids' school;
She teaches  seven students every day as well any other duties she is assigned on a daily basis;
Two nights a day you will find her "coaching" Ms. Payton's Softball Team, but not before she runs little Liam to his own T-Ball Game;
Of course she also has to make sure her children make it to "dance", "Girl Scouts", doctor's visits, etc.
Ms. Payton created this beautiful frame for her mom who works so hard during the day and still manages to have energy and the desire to do so much for her own two children.

Ms. Payton painted the entire frame with Ocean Breeze paint, which is her favorite color;
2 Bows (pack of 8 was 0.99)
Gold Letters (2 sheets of stickers $1.49)
Silver Jewels  (1 jewel sheet $1.49)

so there you have them....

TWO SPECIAL PROJECTS
FOR
TWO SPECIAL WOMEN!!

and while none of these were for me... I am thankful that they both wanted to create something unique for these two hard working women..

My husband recently gifted me with a FitBit Blaze of my own and I'm completely in love with it.  FitBit Blaze comes in three different colors, Black & Silver, Blue & Silver and Plump & Silver and it also comes in two different sizes, Small & Large.

If you cannot decide which of the above gifts will be perfect for that special woman, you can always let her celebrate this special day her way by giving her GIFT CARDS or how about a day at your local Spa...

Either way, the most important is to celebrate her, show her how much her work is appreciated and how thankful you are for having her in your life.

"Boom Boom" by Sinful Colors Professionals

I picked this week's nail color for a couple of reasons.  First, I want the nail color to match beautifully with my Sunday dress, as well as the "Ladies Tea" Event that is schedule for this Saturday which is being hosted by the Divine Ladies Ministries at my church.

This is a beautiful bright "Fuchsia" color and I love it!

BOOM-BOOM #851
By Sinful Colors Professional

This is a perfect color for spring, summer or if you just feel like being a little flirty.

This color was very easy to apply.  I used two coats, of course, after using my base coat.  After the polish was dry, it had a really nice, smooth and shiny finish to it.

While a top coat is not necessary, I applied it out of habit and because it really allows my nail polish to last longer.

I applied a few fun appliques to my ring finger and thumb just because I enjoy using them.

After applying the appliques, I applied a coat of Quick Dry Top and I am now already for the week and for this weekend's Tea Party!

Absolutely fun and girly right?!  I think so and you really can't beat the price of these polishes.... $1.99!

Share your thoughts and comments below... I think next week I'm going to try a nice bright orange! :D

The Amazing SCAD Sidewalk Art Festival

Hello everyone!

Daddy is finally home and we are so happy that our little family it's back together... Yes, Hubby had to travel to Columbia, South Carolina and had to remain there for an entire week!

Was it hectic? Absolutely! Having to drive the kids to all of their after school activities, making sure their homework was completed as well as my house chores had me begging for mercy by Friday.  I have always thought magnificent things of single mothers, I've always praised their ability to juggle it all by themselves, but after spending a week alone with all the responsibilities, my respect for single mothers have increased by a thousand percent.

There is no better way to relax than to enjoy a beautiful day at  the park admiring some mind blowing colorful pieces of art, created with chalk by SCAD students, alumni and high school students as well!!

S.C.A.D. (Savannah College of Art and Design) hosted the 35th Annual Sidewalk Arts Festival which took place at the beautiful Forsyth Park this past Saturday, April 23, 2016.

This event is always free and the public is always welcome to witness these artists creating their masterpieces for a chance to win prizes at the end of the show. Artists at the top of the different categories are awarded a special prize.

IN REMEMBRANCE OF PRINCE:

It was amazing to see not just one but many colorful creations done in memory of the magnificent and talented Prince, who sadly passed away on Thursday.

But this was by far our favorite!  This was created by the talented Ariana Fletcher!  When we inquired about her art, we discovered that it took her nearly two and a half hours to complete.  Let me say this, these pictures don't do the artist justice.

Here are some more murals dedicated to Prince that were created by different artists.

These are some more of our favorites:

Little Man's favorite was this dinosaur, "more specifically, a velociraptor"..

"Lemon-aid" was my favorite for so many reasons:

1. Bree was dressed in this "lemon-"lime" color, and
2. I enjoyed the joke in the title of this piece.

We had a great time viewing the art and even go to see some of these talented artist create their art, it truly was amazing.  There is nothing better than spending "family time" on a lovely sunny day in the park   The way God intended us to enjoy each other.
